Arsenal Pursuing Wolves’ Dan Bentley for Goalkeeper Depth Amid Ramsdale Uncertainty
Arsenal are actively pursuing Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley as potential cover for David Raya this summer, in a bid to strengthen their goalkeeping options. The interest in Bentley, a former Arsenal youth player, comes as the Gunners face challenges in finding a buyer for Aaron Ramsdale.
According to journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon, Arsenal are negotiating with Wolves to secure Bentley’s services. Despite the likelihood of being the third-choice keeper, Bentley appears interested in the move.
Nixon notes that Arsenal’s difficulty in offloading Ramsdale at their desired £50 million valuation may make Bentley’s signing a pragmatic solution.
Bentley, 30, brings valuable Premier League experience to the table. While primarily a backup at Wolves, he made five league appearances this past season, including a match against Arsenal.
His familiarity with the English top flight and his homegrown status, having developed through Arsenal’s academy from 2001 to 2008, are significant assets.
Following his youth tenure with Arsenal, Bentley progressed into senior football with Southend United and later featured for Brentford and Bristol City in the Championship. He rejoined the Premier League in 2022 with Wolves.
Arsenal are also considering Espanyol’s Joan Garcia, but this move hinges more on the potential departure of Ramsdale. Bentley’s acquisition, however, seems a more immediate and practical option regardless of Ramsdale’s situation.
Bentley’s homegrown status and Premier League experience make him an appealing candidate for Arsenal as they aim to bolster their squad depth and ensure solid cover for their primary goalkeeper, David Raya.
