Trent Alexander-Arnold Reacts to Substitution After Liverpool’s 2-0 Win Over Brentford
Trent Alexander-Arnold shared his thoughts on social media after Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Brentford on Sunday. Goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah secured the win, marking Arne Slot’s first competitive game as Liverpool’s manager at Anfield.
Although the team won, Alexander-Arnold seemed unhappy about being substituted with 18 minutes left. Slot spoke to him on the bench after the substitution, but the defender still looked displeased after the match.
Addressing the situation, Slot downplayed any notion of tension between him and Liverpool’s vice-captain, explaining his decision to take Alexander-Arnold off. He emphasized the need to manage the player’s fitness carefully, given his importance for the entire season.
Alexander-Arnold later took to Instagram, where he praised Liverpool fans for their support. He shared photos of himself walking off the pitch, applauding the crowd, and taking a corner, with the caption: “First win at home. Fans were incredible as always.”
He also posted an Instagram story showing himself smiling as he arrived at Anfield and headed to the dressing room. This wasn’t the first time he was substituted this season, as he was also replaced in the 77th minute during Liverpool’s opening win against Ipswich Town.
Liverpool’s next match is away at Manchester United next Sunday, the final game before the September international break.
