Kevin De Bruyne Set for Contract Talks with Manchester City
Manchester City’s star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has revealed that he will soon be entering discussions with the club regarding his contract situation.
De Bruyne, who has been instrumental in City’s success since joining from Wolfsburg in 2015 for £55 million, is in the final year of his current deal, which has led to speculation about his future.
Despite a relatively quiet summer transfer window for City, which saw minimal activity in terms of signings, De Bruyne’s potential contract extension remains a significant priority for the club.
The Belgian, who has been described as “remarkable” by manager Pep Guardiola, emphasized that while there has been a lot of noise surrounding his contract, no formal talks have taken place yet.
De Bruyne told journalist Mike Minay, “I haven’t spoken to anyone. There’s been a lot of noise and news. I said in the summer, I expected a quiet summer, and that’s actually what happened. I’ve been on holiday, came back, and started training. That’s it. Nothing to tell.”
He added, “Once the season goes on, I’m sure there will be conversations to be had. I just want to feel good, play good football, and this will come in the upcoming months. I don’t really feel the rush for the moment.”
Despite being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia earlier in the summer, no official offer materialized, and De Bruyne remains focused on his current season with Manchester City. His comments suggest that he is in no hurry to make a decision and is content to let discussions unfold naturally as the season progresses.
Given his immense contribution to the club over the years, both City and De Bruyne will likely approach these contract talks with mutual respect and the aim of continuing their successful partnership.
