Memphis Depay Set to Leave Europe for Move to Brazilian Club Corinthians
Former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay is reportedly set to leave European football for a new venture in South America, with a move to Brazilian club Corinthians.
Depay, who rose to prominence at PSV Eindhoven before making high-profile moves to Manchester United, Lyon, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid, is now poised for a new chapter in Brazil.
Despite being highly regarded when he joined United in 2015 and even taking on the club’s iconic number seven shirt, Depay struggled to live up to the lofty expectations.
After leaving Old Trafford, he revived his career in France with Lyon and later had stints in Spain with Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.
During the 2023 winter transfer window, Depay was linked with a return to Manchester United, but Erik ten Hag opted to sign Wout Weghorst instead.
Depay moved to Atlético Madrid, but after parting ways with the club at the end of last season, he spent the summer as a free agent.
Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Corinthians have reached an agreement in principle with Depay for a permanent move, with a contract set to run until 2026.

Corinthians, currently struggling in 17th place in the Brazilian Serie A, hope Depay’s technical ability and attacking versatility will boost their fortunes.
Interestingly, Depay’s former Manchester United teammate Anthony Martial, who is also a free agent, has attracted interest from another Brazilian club, Flamengo.
