Jadon Sancho Sends Subtle Message to Manchester United After Impressive Chelsea Debut
Jadon Sancho made a notable impact on his Chelsea debut with a key assist in their 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.
The winger, who had a challenging period at Manchester United last season and spent time on loan at Borussia Dortmund due to a dispute with manager Erik ten Hag, was reintegrated into United’s squad this summer.
Despite featuring as a substitute in the Community Shield, Sancho did not play in the opening league games for United.
Sancho, who has supported Chelsea since childhood, was given a fresh start with a loan move to Stamford Bridge on deadline day, which includes an obligation for Chelsea to buy him next summer. This move could result in a significant loss for United, who signed him for £73 million.
On his Chelsea debut, Sancho came off the bench and assisted Christopher Nkunku’s late goal. After the game, he expressed his gratitude towards Chelsea for the warm welcome he received, saying, “It’s amazing to make my debut for Chelsea. I’m very grateful just to be back playing. The team did well and we’re happy with the three points.”
Sancho acknowledged the support he received from his teammates and staff, stating, “I’ve worked hard for this moment and I’m happy to finally get my chance. The team has made me feel very welcome, and I’m really comfortable here.”
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca praised Sancho’s performance, stating, “I don’t see any problems with Jadon. He’s a very good player, and he’s been training well. We’re happy with him and he’s been very polite and positive.”
Maresca further commented on Match of the Day, “Sancho did exactly what we expected, and he, along with Tosin Adarabioyo and Christopher Nkunku, contributed well. Joao Felix was also very good. We needed a bit more quality in the box, and Sancho provided that.”
