David Seaman’s Rollercoaster Love Life: From Childhood Sweetheart to Third Marriage
David Seaman’s life off the pitch has been as eventful as his celebrated football career. The former Arsenal and England goalkeeper, who turns 61, has had three marriages, each marked by its own share of public attention.
Seaman’s first marriage was to his childhood sweetheart, Sandra, in 1985.
They had two children before their relationship ended in 1995, when Seaman confessed to having an affair with Debbie, a receptionist at Arsenal.
He went on to marry Debbie three years later, claiming at the time that their relationship would be “for good.” The couple also had two children together and remained married during Seaman’s retirement from football in 2004.
However, their relationship ended after Seaman participated in Dancing on Ice in 2006. Though paired with Pam O’Connor for the competition, he became romantically involved with fellow dancer Frankie Poultney.
Debbie was left devastated by the affair, and the couple divorced. Seaman quickly moved in with Frankie, and the two later married in 2015.
Frankie and Seaman, both from South Yorkshire, bonded over their shared backgrounds and careers as athletes.
Seaman remains a beloved figure in English football, and despite the ups and downs of his personal life, he and Frankie have spoken positively about their strong connection.
