Erik ten Hag Denies Marcus Rashford Bust-Up Rumors After Crystal Palace Clash
Erik ten Hag strongly refuted claims of a “bust-up” with Marcus Rashford after the striker was surprisingly benched for Manchester United’s goalless draw against Crystal Palace.
Following the match, pundit Jamie Redknapp speculated that there might have been an issue between the manager and Rashford, but Ten Hag dismissed this notion as “crazy.”
In a heated response, Ten Hag said, “I have heard already speculation from some pundits. That is crazy.
I would almost say that, as a person, you are not OK when you bring such speculation if you don’t know. This is just rotation.” He emphasized the need for rotation given the demanding schedule and the depth of the squad, stating that players would earn their chances based on performance.
Ten Hag mentioned his satisfaction with Rashford’s overall contributions, both offensively and defensively, denying any rift between them. He noted, “I’m very happy with Marcus—he scores and performs very well. So this has nothing to do with why he was on the bench—it was just rotation.”
After the match, Ten Hag reflected on missed opportunities, particularly highlighting Alejandro Garnacho’s failure to convert several chances in the first half. He remarked, “We let them off in the first half. In and out of possession, we played a really good game. The only thing I can criticize is we were not clinical enough in the box.”
Ten Hag also praised goalkeeper André Onana, who made crucial saves, including a standout double save late in the game. He described Onana’s performance as “brilliant—class.”
