Chelsea’s Romeo Lavia Teases Injury Return: Key Update Ahead of Carabao Cup Clash
Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has hinted at a possible return from his hamstring injury, which has sidelined him for the past four weeks. After a challenging debut season marred by injuries, Lavia’s return is eagerly anticipated following his £53 million move from Southampton in 2023.
Manager Enzo Maresca initially downplayed the severity of Lavia’s injury and suggested he could be back for the Bournemouth match, but he ultimately missed that game. However, Maresca indicated that Lavia is “very close” to returning, creating optimism among fans and teammates.
Lavia shared a training update on his Instagram, including a timer emoji, which suggests he’s making progress. There’s a good chance he could be included in the squad for the Carabao Cup clash against Barrow on September 24, although starting may be unlikely after his layoff.
In addition to Lavia, Chelsea is still without Malo Gusto and Reece James, the latter yet to play this season due to another injury.
Maresca emphasized the importance of ensuring players return at 100% fitness, leaving the timeline for James and Gusto’s return uncertain.
As Chelsea continues to navigate injury challenges, Lavia’s imminent return could provide a much-needed boost to their midfield options.
