Chelsea Pursue Teen Sensation Francis Onyeka as Transfer Interest Heats Up
Chelsea, under head coach Enzo Maresca, are reportedly showing renewed interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s 17-year-old prodigy, Francis Onyeka.
The teenager has been making waves in Leverkusen’s youth system, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 24 matches for their U-19 side.
Despite not yet debuting for the first team, his performances have drawn the attention of several top clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham.
Maresca, who is said to be a big admirer of Onyeka, had his scouts monitor the player even during his time at Leicester City.
The young midfielder, who is versatile enough to play centrally or on the left wing, is contracted to Leverkusen until 2027.
However, with Premier League interest intensifying, it remains to be seen whether he will stay in Germany long-term.
Additionally, Chelsea are also tracking other Leverkusen players, including striker Victor Boniface, who has scored 25 goals in 40 games for the Bundesliga side.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are still monitoring Victor Osimhen, despite his recent loan move to Galatasaray from Napoli.
The club also has eyes on RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba, who is valued at £60 million, indicating Chelsea’s continued pursuit of top young talent across Europe.
