Arsenal Faces Nightmare Suspension, Potentially Handing Man City Significant Title Advantage
Arsenal is in the thick of the Premier League title race against Manchester City, and it could all come down to the last day of the season.
Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, believes the Premier League title race will go down to the wire against Manchester City.
Following a four-game winning streak following last month’s upset against Aston Villa, Arteta believes his team is prepared for a final-day showdown.
“I’ve seen that the whole season,” said Arteta on the robustness demonstrated by his side lately, adding: “They give me the reason to believe that every single day. We are right on it. The motivation for what is ahead is beautiful. We are all expecting that they’re going to have a real go.”
Despite Arsenal’s impressive form, reigning champions City, led by Pep Guardiola, maintain their lead with only one point behind Arsenal and an extra game against Tottenham.
Even if City wins their game in hand, the title race could still be decided on the final day, if Arsenal can secure points against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, an event that is sure to be fraught with emotion as Arteta tries to maintain his cool.
Arsenal manager Arteta has been known for his animated behaviour on the sidelines this season, earning him the league’s most yellow cards. With five bookings on his record this season,
Arteta has already missed one match this season after being sent off against Manchester City in February, and his absence was felt as Arsenal lost 1-0 at Aston Villa.
“It was what it was,” Arteta stated following the Villa defeat. “I tried to adapt. I believe the boys did an excellent job communicating our goals, and the team performed admirably.”
However, missing the potentially title-deciding match against Everton would be a significant setback for Arteta and his team. He will be hoping to keep his cool at Old Trafford and avoid a suspension, which could be costly in the title race.
