Gabriel Magalhaes Reveals Future Dream Club
Arsenal’s Brazilian center-back, Gabriel Magalhaes, has shared that when he eventually leaves the Gunners, there is one club he dreams of joining – Corinthians. Gabriel, who moved to Arsenal from Lille for £27 million, has established himself as a key player under Mikel Arteta, forming one of the Premier League’s most formidable defensive partnerships with William Saliba.
Gabriel’s Journey to Arsenal
Gabriel joined Arsenal in 2020, with the club fending off competition from Manchester United, Everton, and Fiorentina to secure his signature. Since then, he has been a mainstay in the defense, playing every Premier League game in the 2022/23 season and making 36 appearances in the following campaign as Arsenal narrowly missed out on the title to Manchester City.
Dreaming of Corinthians
In a recent interview with ESPN Brasil, Gabriel expressed his long-standing dream of playing for his boyhood club, Corinthians. The São Paulo-born defender spoke passionately about his connection to the club, stating:

“My favourite club? Corinthians. That’s since I was born, and today I don’t think it has to be any different. I still go to Corinthians games by train. It’s my dream, I want to play for Corinthians. I want to feel that energy. It’s something to think about. Sometimes I stop and think, ‘Do I dream of playing for Corinthians?’ I do. When would I play for Corinthians? For me, I’d be at Corinthians tomorrow. I hope it doesn’t take me long because I want to feel the energy of those fans, who are incredible, as soon as possible.”
Arsenal Contract and Future Prospects
While Gabriel’s comments may cause concern among Arsenal fans, there is no immediate threat of him leaving. His current contract with the Gunners runs until 2027, and Arsenal is in discussions with him about a new deal. Given his importance to the team, any future transfer would likely command a fee significantly higher than the £27 million Arsenal originally paid.
Despite his dream of returning to Corinthians, Gabriel remains committed to his current role at Arsenal. However, fans should not be surprised if, one day, he returns to his roots to play for his beloved Corinthians, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
