Amad Diallo Earns Ivory Coast Call-Up After Strong Start with Manchester United
Manchester United’s young talent, Amad Diallo, has been recognized for his impressive start to the season.
After finishing the 2023/24 campaign on a high note, where he showcased his potential, Amad continued to impress in pre-season by scoring two goals and winning over fans with his performances.
This past weekend, Amad netted his first Premier League goal of the season during Manchester United’s 2-1 loss to Brighton, further highlighting his growing influence at the club.
Amad’s recent form has also earned him a call-up to the Ivory Coast national team, marking his first inclusion since March 2021. The Federation Ivoirienne de Football announced his selection for their upcoming international matches, a testament to his progress at Manchester United.
Amad made his Manchester United debut under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was later selected for the Ivory Coast under-23 squad for the Tokyo Olympics in July 2021.
However, an injury following the Olympics disrupted a planned move to Feyenoord. He then spent the latter part of the 2021/22 season on loan at Rangers and the 2022/23 season on loan at Sunderland.
Now firmly established as a regular for Manchester United, Amad has earned his spot back on the Ivory Coast team after a three-year absence.
With four international appearances and one goal—a stoppage-time free-kick against Burkina Faso—already to his name, Amad is set to contribute in the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Zambia and Chad before returning to Manchester United for their next Premier League match.
