Anthony Martial Breaks Silence After AEK Athens Move, Aiming to Revive Career
Anthony Martial has broken his silence after securing a move to AEK Athens following his summer departure from Manchester United.
The French forward, who had been a free agent since leaving Old Trafford, has signed a three-year deal with the Greek club, reportedly worth £7.5 million including bonuses—the highest salary ever offered by AEK Athens.
Martial expressed his happiness at the opportunity, stating, “I am very happy. AEK is an opportunity for me, and I will give my best to achieve things, win trophies, and bring joy to the world of the team.
” This marks a new chapter for the 28-year-old, who had an emotional farewell to United earlier in the summer after spending nine years with the club.
In his farewell message, Martial thanked Manchester United and promised to follow the club’s results passionately, saying he would “always be a Red Devil.”
Martial’s new team, AEK Athens, face cross-town rivals Kallithea this weekend, though it may be too soon for his debut.
His former Manchester United teammate, Morgan Schneiderlin, has backed him to succeed in Greece, predicting that Martial’s playing style will suit AEK and that he will score plenty of goals.
Schneiderlin also praised Martial’s versatility, highlighting his ability to play both as a striker and as a left winger, where he can cut in and use his dribbling skills effectively.
