Antonio Conte Defends Scott McTominay After Criticism from Italian Media
Antonio Conte has defended Scott McTominay following critical remarks from Italian journalist Enrico Fedele.
After McTominay’s Serie A debut for Napoli, Fedele compared him unfavorably to former Napoli player Fabian Ruiz and made a joke about his performance, likening him to a stiff character from the “Rocky Balboa” films.
Conte, however, has praised McTominay’s early performances in Italy.
He emphasized that McTominay, along with other new signings like Billy Gilmour and David Neres, is gradually adapting to Napoli’s playing style and the demands of Conte’s training methods.
Conte highlighted that the more time McTominay spends with the team, the better he will fit into their tactical setup and contribute to their success.
Despite Fedele’s skepticism, Conte’s comments suggest that he is optimistic about McTominay’s potential to integrate effectively into the team and make a positive impact for Napoli.
