Liverpool Boss Arne Slot Expresses Concerns Over Federico Chiesa’s Fitness Level Ahead of Potential EFL Cup Start Against West Ham
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has expressed concerns about Federico Chiesa’s match fitness, revealing that the Italian winger is not yet ready to play a full 90 minutes.
Chiesa, who joined Liverpool from Juventus in August, has been gradually integrated into the team, making brief appearances off the bench in recent games against AC Milan and Bournemouth.
Slot acknowledged that while Chiesa may be fit enough to start in Liverpool’s upcoming EFL Cup match against West Ham, he is unlikely to complete the full game.
Chiesa has only played a maximum of 25 minutes in the last few months, and he missed out on friendlies during his time at Juventus, limiting his game time.
Slot stated, “I don’t think he’s able to play 90 at the level we are playing tomorrow against a strong West Ham team.”
Chiesa, on his part, has shown eagerness to contribute more minutes on the pitch. After his debut at Milan and a longer run-out at Anfield against Bournemouth, the forward expressed his desire to continue building his fitness and readiness for more significant roles in upcoming fixtures.
