Arsenal vs. Manchester United Pre-Season Match at SoFi Stadium Faces Ticket Sales Challenge
Arsenal and Manchester United, two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, are set to face off in a pre-season friendly at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles this Saturday.
Despite the allure of a high-profile matchup, nearly 20,000 tickets remain unsold for the game at the 70,000-capacity venue, which is home to NFL teams Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.
Ticket Prices Deterring Fans
Ticket sales for the match have been slower than expected, with only 51,000 tickets sold thus far. The high ticket prices are believed to be a significant factor in deterring fans from attending.
The cheapest tickets are priced at $126 (£97), while the most expensive ones reach a staggering $667 (£516), making it a costly outing for supporters.
Arsenal’s Pre-Season Schedule
Arsenal will kick off their pre-season tour with a match against Bournemouth at Dignity Health Sports Park on Thursday morning.
The Gunners have announced a 26-player squad for their U.S. tour, featuring key players like club captain Martin Odegaard, Ben White, Gabriel Jesus, and new signing Jurrien Timber. Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz are set to join the squad from July 25.
However, several of Arsenal’s stars, including Declan Rice, Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, David Raya, and William Saliba, will not travel to America due to their extended involvement in Euro 2024.
Manchester United’s Pre-Season Progress
Manchester United is already two games into their pre-season campaign. The Red Devils experienced a late defeat to Rosenborg but rebounded with a 2-0 victory over Scottish giants Rangers at Murrayfield last Saturday.
New signing Leny Yoro made his first appearance for United in the win, while Andre Onana, Amad Diallo, and Jadon Sancho returned to action after their summer breaks.
Notably absent from United’s lineup due to minor injuries are Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Victor Lindelof. Meanwhile, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, and Tyrell Malacia have yet to join the squad for the U.S. tour.
Match Details and Expectations
The match between Arsenal and Manchester United at SoFi Stadium promises to be an exciting encounter, offering fans a glimpse of their teams’ preparations ahead of the new Premier League season.
Despite the ticket sales challenge, the game remains a significant fixture for both clubs as they gear up for the competitive season.
For Arsenal, the pre-season tour provides an opportunity to integrate new signings and assess the squad’s fitness and form. Meanwhile, Manchester United will aim to build on their recent victory and continue fine-tuning their tactics under manager Erik ten Hag.
