Arsenal’s International Break Absentees: Jorginho, Gabriel Jesus, Tomiyasu, Havertz & More Left Out of National Teams
Several Arsenal players have been left out of their national team squads ahead of the upcoming international break, with their exclusions mostly related to fitness and playing time concerns.
Jorginho, despite his experience, has once again been left out of Italy’s squad. His absence is attributed to a lack of regular game time at Arsenal, where he’s only made three starts and one substitute appearance in their first ten games of the season.
Gabriel Jesus has also been overlooked by Brazil, reportedly for similar reasons regarding his playing time at the club.
Takehiro Tomiyasu has been left out of Japan’s squad. Although he recently returned from injury and made a brief appearance off the bench against Southampton, his lack of match fitness has kept him out of international selection.
Jurrien Timber has been omitted from the Netherlands squad after missing Arsenal’s last game due to an injury. He was substituted at halftime during the midweek clash with Paris Saint-Germain, and the hope is that his exclusion from the national team is a precautionary measure rather than a sign of a severe injury.
Ben White is another right-back missing from the international break, with his absence from England’s squad not surprising given his injury issues and the fact he hasn’t returned to the national team setup since withdrawing from the 2022 World Cup squad. On the other hand, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice have both been called up for England as expected.
Oleksandr Zinchenko and Martin Odegaard will also miss their respective national team duties due to injury. Meanwhile, Mikel Merino has made a swift return to the Spain squad, indicating his fitness.
Lastly, there’s concern over Kai Havertz, who has withdrawn from the Germany squad due to knee problems, raising questions about his fitness ahead of the upcoming fixtures for Arsenal.
