Bruno Fernandes ‘Stunned’ by Manchester United’s Decision to Sell Maxi Oyedele: INEOS Summer Transfer Moves Explained
Bruno Fernandes has expressed his surprise at Manchester United’s decision to sell Maxi Oyedele to Legia Warsaw.
The United captain expected the young midfielder to eventually break into the first team at Old Trafford. Oyedele’s move to Legia Warsaw, which was completed for a fee of around £500,000, was part of a broader strategy by INEOS to raise funds for reinforcements in Erik ten Hag’s squad.
The 19-year-old had spent time on loan at Altrincham and Forest Green Rovers before joining Legia, where he quickly made an impact. His performances led to a call-up to the Polish national team, where he recently made his senior debut in a UEFA Nations League match against Portugal.
Fernandes commented on Oyedele’s departure, noting that the club had high hopes for the midfielder and that he had shown great promise during pre-season.\
Legia Warsaw’s head coach, Goncalo Feio, also praised Oyedele’s qualities, highlighting his technical ability, physicality, and tactical awareness.
Feio mentioned that even Fernandes was taken aback by the decision to let Oyedele go, given his impressive performances during the pre-season.
Both Fernandes and Feio believe that Oyedele has the potential to develop into a key player, and they expect him to have a significant impact in Polish football as he continues to grow in his career.
