Chelsea’s Injury Woes: Filip Jorgensen Substituted Before Liverpool Match Amid Triple Absence for Enzo Maresca
Chelsea faces another injury setback before their match against Liverpool, with a new issue concerning goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
Jorgensen was taken off at half-time during Denmark’s under-21 match against Iceland after sustaining an injury from a collision with a teammate.
The 22-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal for £20 million in July, had not yet made his Premier League debut but had participated in the Conference League and Carabao Cup.
The severity of Jorgensen’s injury is still unclear, but he will return to West London to join his Chelsea teammates ahead of their upcoming Premier League game against Liverpool on Sunday.
The team is already missing suspended players Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella for the trip to Anfield, and it is uncertain whether Jorgensen will join them on the sidelines. Reece James is also currently unavailable due to injury.
Since his transfer from Spain, Jorgensen has made only four appearances for Chelsea, three of which were in the UEFA Conference League.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is expected to provide updates on Jorgensen and the rest of the squad later this week, typically addressing the media on Fridays.
