Erling Haaland Misses Carabao Cup Clash After Returning to Norway for Family Funeral
Erling Haaland will miss Manchester City’s Carabao Cup match against Watford after returning to Norway to attend the funeral of a family friend, Ivar Eggja, who passed away recently at the age of 59. Eggja was a close confidant of Haaland and was best man at his father’s wedding.
Haaland had been given compassionate leave by the club but chose to play in recent Premier League matches against Brentford and Arsenal, as well as in the Champions League final against Inter Milan.
He is expected to be back for the Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Saturday.
The striker’s absence comes after a tumultuous draw with Arsenal, where he was involved in several incidents, including throwing the ball at Gabriel Magalhaes and engaging in a confrontation with Mikel Arteta and Gabriel Jesus.
However, the Premier League has confirmed that no disciplinary action will be taken against him for these actions. Haaland is set to return to action against Newcastle after the compassionate leave.
