Virgil van Dijk & Mohamed Salah Prioritize Liverpool Ahead of Chelsea & Arsenal Clashes
Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have both decided to leave their respective national teams early and return to Liverpool, ahead of crucial Premier League fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal.
Van Dijk was sent off for the Netherlands during their 1-1 draw with Hungary in the Nations League. Initially, he planned to stay with the Dutch squad to show his support, despite being suspended for their upcoming match against Germany.
However, he has opted to return to Merseyside to rest and prepare for Liverpool’s busy schedule. Van Dijk cited the need to manage his workload and the demands of the hectic fixture schedule as reasons for his decision.
Similarly, Mohamed Salah has been released from Egypt’s squad early due to concerns about the pitch conditions for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Mauritania. This break will give Salah a full week to rest and recover before Liverpool’s upcoming match against Chelsea at Anfield.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal have key players currently on international duty, with hopes that they return without injury.
For Arsenal, Kai Havertz withdrew from the Germany squad with a knee issue, and Bukayo Saka also became a concern after withdrawing from the England squad following an injury in their Nations League match against Greece.
These injury worries could impact Arsenal’s plans as they prepare for their upcoming matches, including the clash with Liverpool.
