Manchester United: Erik ten Hag to Stay for FA Cup Final, Graham Potter Under Consideration by Club Leadership
Erik Ten Hag will not be fired by Manchester United before the FA Cup final, talkSPORT has learned.
Ten Hag is facing increased scrutiny after United were thrashed 4-0 at Crystal Palace on Monday.
If United decide to make a change, former Chelsea manager Graham Potter is highly regarded by new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth.
If he was to become a free agent Ten Hag would be a candidate to take over at Bayern Munich.
The Red Devils are currently eighth in the Premier League, on course for their lowest-ever finish.
That is just one statistic that summarises their disappointing season.
The defeat against Palace was their 13th of the season, the most in a Premier League campaign.
United have also conceded 81 goals across all competitions, the most since the 1976/77 season (also 81).
With three league games remaining, the Dutchman vowed to fight for his future.
Ten Hag told Sky Sports: “I will keep fighting. I prepared the team in the best way I could do. It was not good enough, I have to take responsibility for that but I will find energy and prepare them for Sunday’s game [against Arsenal].”
He added: “It’s clear, it’s obvious, this is under-performing. We didn’t act how we wanted to and it’s not good enough. We are very disappointed.
“Our fans were behind us and we should have kept fighting like the fans did.
“There are always reasons, everyone sees our back line – we have huge problems. At the end of the day, we have to deal with it and we should have done better.”
