Manchester United Prepare for Potential £35 Million Loss on Aaron Wan-Bissaka Amid West Ham Interest
Manchester United are willing to take a £35 million hit on Aaron Wan-Bissaka amid a potential summer exit.
The right-back has endured a mixed time at Old Trafford since moving north from Crystal Palace back in 2019. He was the first major signing of the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era and set the club back £50 million as they pounced following a huge breakout year for the right-back.
Originally a regular, Wan-Bissaka has been in and out of the first team with Diogo Dalot often preferred. He has played in notable games under Erik ten Hag, but the club is still willing to sanction his departure.
West Ham are among those keen and could land the former Palace defender for £15 million. The Hammers and United are reportedly locked in talks over a potential deal, according to talkSPORT, with the Red Devils triggering a 12-month extension in his deal to stop him leaving for nothing this summer.
He has made 190 appearances for United, scoring twice, but he could soon find himself at the London Stadium as the Red Devils look to get players off their books to help finance their summer business with more new signings on Ten Hag’s wish list.
This time last year, the United boss admitted that Wan-Bissaka “was out in the cold and looked like he was on his way out of Manchester United” before his performances landed him another season.
The former Palace man, who was once tipped for England but is yet to land international recognition, has admitted he thought his career in Manchester was up as soon as Ten Hag arrived before knuckling down to extend his time at Old Trafford.
He said previously: “It was a hard time and the only thing you can do during a hard time is keep working. I got my head down and then got the chance and was able to help the team. You can just sit there and complain about it and not care, or you can actually try and I thought the best way was for me to try.”
Last term Wan-Bissaka started 20 times in the Premier League but United are attempting to bolster their backline as they close in on the £52 million capture of Leny Yoro from Lille.
Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite are also on their shortlist.
