Manchester United Remains a Top Destination with Ineos Driving Transfer Market Ambitions
Despite a disappointing Premier League campaign that saw Manchester United finish eighth, the club’s ability to attract top talent remains undiminished.
Erik ten Hag’s position was under threat, but an FA Cup victory brought some much-needed positivity.
New investors Ineos are now spearheading United’s efforts in the transfer market. Although no signings have been finalized yet, attracting players is not an issue for the club. Manchester United aims to secure four key additions:
Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, Everton center-back Jarrad Branthwaite, and Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt.
Negotiations with Everton for Branthwaite have been challenging, particularly regarding the transfer fee. A second bid has been submitted, but it may still fall short.
However, Branthwaite is eager to join United and has already agreed on personal terms, as reported by The Times. His desire to switch clubs could play in United’s favor.
Similarly, Matthijs de Ligt is keen on a move to Manchester United. According to Fabrizio Romano, De Ligt has approved the deal, with personal terms not expected to be an issue.
The Dutch defender is seeking a fresh challenge away from Bayern Munich and is excited about reuniting with his former Ajax boss, Erik ten Hag. De Ligt has already turned down interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
Joshua Zirkzee, De Ligt’s international teammate, is even closer to completing his transfer. He has rejected interest from AC Milan and Arsenal, with Dutch media indicating that Zirkzee’s move to United will be finalized once Euro 2024 concludes.
Manuel Ugarte is United’s primary midfield target. Despite only spending a year at PSG, Ugarte is ready for a new challenge in the Premier League.
Fabrizio Romano mentioned on his podcast that Ugarte is open to joining Manchester United, even without the lure of Champions League football.
As Manchester United looks to bounce back from a turbulent season, the club’s allure remains strong, and with Ineos driving their transfer ambitions, the Red Devils are poised to make significant moves in the market.
