Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho Deletes Response to Social Media Critic After Backlash
Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho recently found himself in the spotlight for reasons off the pitch after he responded to criticism on social media, only to quickly delete the post.
Following United’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford, a supporter on X (formerly Twitter) shared a video highlighting Garnacho’s perceived mistakes during the early stages of the season.
The 20-year-old, who started the match, responded to the post with a dismissive comment: “Wasting your time making clips for me – your life so far [laughing emoji and fire emoji].”
However, Garnacho’s retort was met with a sharp reply from the critic, who told him to focus on improving his game.
Garnacho later removed his original post, but the exchange did not go unnoticed by fans and the media.
This is not the first time Garnacho has faced scrutiny for his social media activity. Last season, he drew attention for liking posts that criticized United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, after being substituted in a match against Bournemouth. He later apologized for the incident, with Ten Hag acknowledging the young player’s mistake and moving forward.
Despite his recent struggles, Garnacho was a key player for United last season, contributing seven goals and four assists. His substitution during the Liverpool match was met with boos from the Old Trafford crowd, and Ten Hag defended his decision by pointing out Garnacho and Zirkzee’s limited experience as starters.
As Garnacho continues to develop, his on-field performance and social media presence will likely remain under close scrutiny, especially given the high expectations surrounding him at Manchester United.
