Mikel Arteta Provides Injury Update on David Raya, Ben White, and Jurrien Timber Ahead of Leicester City Clash
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is facing a potential injury crisis ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Leicester City.
Key players David Raya, Ben White, and Jurrien Timber are all doubtful, with Raya dealing with a muscular injury that kept him out of Arsenal’s 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Bolton.
Arteta confirmed Raya’s injury in his post-match press conference, stating that it is uncertain if the goalkeeper will recover in time for the weekend clash.
Adding to Arsenal’s concerns, White and Timber are also dealing with fitness issues, further complicating Arteta’s defensive options.
The Gunners are already coping with a series of injuries, including those to Martin Ødegaard, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Mikel Merino.
If Raya is unavailable, Arteta may opt to start Neto, who is currently on loan at Arsenal from Bournemouth. However, Neto was ineligible to play against Bolton due to being cup-tied, which led to 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter making his debut.
Arteta praised the young goalkeeper’s composure and maturity, noting that despite his inexperience, Porter handled the pressure well.
With several key players sidelined, Arteta’s squad depth will be tested as Arsenal aim to maintain their strong start to the season.
