Predicted Chelsea Lineup Against Bournemouth
Chelsea may have to play without up to seven players for their final Premier League match of the season at home against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
Romeo Lavia (thigh), Wesley Fofana (knee), Enzo Fernandez (groin), and Robert Sanchez (unspecified) are all engaged in their respective recovery programs and remain unavailable for selection.
Mykhaylo Mudryk is also ruled out due to concussion protocols following his early exit from Chelsea’s 2-1 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday. Additionally, Reece James is suspended after receiving a straight red card for kicking out at Joao Pedro.
Christopher Nkunku, who scored against Brighton after replacing Mudryk just before halftime, will be looking for more playing time this weekend despite his injury-plagued season. However, a start against Bournemouth seems unlikely.
Prediction: Chelsea 4-2 BournemouthThiago Silva, set to depart for Fluminense this summer, hopes to feature in his farewell match, but he faces competition from Benoit Badiashile, Trevoh Chalobah, and Levi Colwill for a starting spot in central defense. Axel Disasi, who was excluded from the midweek squad, should be in contention to return on Sunday.
With James absent, Malo Gusto is expected to continue at right-back, while left-back Ben Chilwell aims to reclaim his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI from Marc Cucurella.
Carney Chukwuemeka has rejoined team training after a knee injury but is unlikely to replace either Moises Caicedo or Conor Gallagher in midfield. Premier League Young Player of the Season Cole Palmer, who has scored 22 league goals, is set to continue in the number 10 role.
Nicolas Jackson is expected to lead the attack, seeking to add to his 17 goals in all competitions, while Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke are likely to play on the wings.
